Hi!
So where to start. Who am I? I'm a chef. Yes, a real chef. Cool, right? I think so.
My name is Joanne Kawira Muchai. I am a citizen of the Republic of Kenya and I am 21 years old. I have a Bachelors Degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, USA. Do not try and do the math; even I am not sure how I graduated from university at the age of 20. I currently work at Gourmet Lynk, a fine foods provider (the term catering business is so bleugh!) located in Lavington. I love reading, music, travelling, knitting (yes, knitting) and of course, ALL THINGS FOOD. That's pretty much me in a nutshell.
So what is the point of this blog? I'm not even really sure myself. On a simple level, I think I'm just trying to commit to something that will get my name out there. Whether one person reads this or a thousand, it's all about advertising, right? I mean, you've watched Julie & Julia, right? Maybe because of this blog they'll do a sequel about the African chef who blogged just like Julia did about food. It'll be called, of course, Joanne & Julia. Ok, I'm done with my fantasy. Ultimately, I just want to learn more about food. Ingredients, techniques, foods in cultures and anything else food related. Learning never stops. And what I learn, I want to share with you guys, the readers.
So I'll try as much as possible to post things semi-regularly (I am a creature of habit, and my habit is not developing habits, so forgive me in advance). Kindly share this blog with your family, friends, enemies, acquaintances, strangers; basically anyone and everyone. Hopefully, you'll eventually come to love all things food as much as I do!
~ Jo
Ok so just to start off, this is a Tuna Summer Salad with Arugula, Radicchio, Tomatoes, Purple carrots (yes, purple), Oven roasted Candy cane beets & Golden beets, (all ORGANIC vegetables), Olives and Tuna flakes. This really doesn't need a recipe. Just buy the stuff (you can find all this on www.freshandmore.co.ke) and assemble.
